Pack 194 plans two family camping trips each year - one in the fall and one in the spring. Families are encouraged to attend with their Scout and participate in all the great activities planned. However, it is important to follow all of the safety guidelines as outlined in BSA's Guide to Safe Scouting.
Find a friend or relative to take care of your pets.
Bring lots of water and other non-alcoholic beverages to drink.
Check the fire restrictions ahead of time. Make sure to bring firewood if fires are allowed.
Brush up on your campfire safety - bring a shovel and lots of water for putting out fires.
Go over the safety rules regarding pocketknives with your Scout - only Scouts that have earned their Whittling Chip may carry pocketknives.
Practice putting up that new tent ahead of time. Make sure you have all the poles and stakes.
Remember that Quiet Hours are from 10pm-6am.
Leave your campsite cleaner than you found it. Bring lots of trash bags and be prepared to take your trash with you - especially if all the trash cans are full.
Don't bring pets with you.
Don't bring any alcoholic beverages.
Don't bring any weapons of any kind.
Don't smoke cigarettes near the camping area or around Scouts.
Don't bring a camping trailer - only tents are allowed.
Don't allow your Scout to handle axes or fixed blade knives. If they have earned their Whittling Chip, they may use a pocketknife.
Don't bring toys that could injure other Scouts, such as sling shots or darts.
